Mark Cavendish finally ended his long wait for an Olympic medal on Day 10 of the Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

Britain's most decorated Tour de France cyclist took a silver medal in the Omnium competition, though not without controversy as he swerved into South Korean cyclist Sanghoon Park, in a crash that ended Park's race and saw him stretchered off the track.

Elsewhere, Simone Biles' bid for a historic fifth gymnastics gold medal came unstuck when the brilliant American stumbled on the balance beam and had to settle for bronze to add to her three golds already won in Brazil so far.
