Rocket League is already three years old, and developer Psyonix is hosting a special Anniversary Event this month, complete with birthday-themed items and unlocks. The best part: There aren't any loot boxes to be seen.

The biggest addition to the Rocket League Anniversary Event is a new arena, which features a throwback layout to Psyonix' previous game, Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars. The major difference is the goals aren't pushed to the sides of the playing field like in soccer. Instead, the goal sits toward the middle of the field, with players able to go behind the goal. It's similar to how a goal in hockey is set up.
Special items can also be unlocked during the event. These items are not confined to loot crates, but players will need to earn special balloons. These balloons can be earned by competing in online matches, and can be used to open Golden Eggs. Each player can open up to 10 Golden Eggs to get new items.

The Golden Egg items include new toppers, car skins and titles. Golden Egg items can be traded for other Golden Egg items, but can't be traded for regular items. Additionally, all balloons expire right when the event ends, so make sure you cash it all in by the end of the event.

The Rocket League Anniversary Event officially starts on July 9 at 1 p.m. EDT and runs until July 23 at 8 p.m. EDT. Again, make sure you cash in all of your earned balloons before the event ends, because they all immediately expire once the clock strikes 8:01 p.m. on July 23.
So what do you think? Are you excited to try out the new arena in Rocket League? What birthday items would you like to unlock? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
