Manchester United and Chelsea are circling around a transfer deal for Romelu Lukaku, according to reports.

The Everton striker is joint top scorer in the English Premier League this season with 19 goals. But according to The Daily Telegraph, Lukaku's talks over a new contract at Goodison Park have stalled over a refusal by the Merseyside club to value his release clause at below £90 million.

That would put the 23-year-old out of the price range of all but Europe's wealthiest clubs. United and Chelsea remain interested, with both clubs on the lookout for strikers this summer.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte would like better support for Diego Costa, as summer 2016 signing Michy Batshuayi has not proved himself a success.

Mourinho, meanwhile, needs a replacement for 35-year-old Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who may sign on again at Old Trafford for another season. The Portuguese will probably have to break the world record fee he paid for Paul Pogba from Juventus last summer to land Lukaku, who played for him at Chelsea.
