Ron DeSantis Berating CNN Reporter Over Florida Vaccine Rollout Viewed 3 Million Times

A video showing Florida governor Ron DeSantis interrupting and berating a CNN reporter while she tries to ask about the state's coronavirus vaccine rollout has been viewed more than three million times in just 14 hours.

The clip shows the moment CNN's Rosa Flores tries to ask DeSantis about why some elderly patients had to join long queues and even sleep out overnight in order to get their vaccine in some parts of Florida.

"What has gone wrong with the rollout of the vaccine, phone lines jammed, website crashing..." Flores says.

Before she can finish her question, DeSantis interrupts with "there's a lot of demand..." before he himself is cut off by Flores trying to finish her question.

"You've just said what has gone wrong, so I'm answering the question," the governor adds.

As Flores says she has not finished asking him about the rollout, DeSantis adds: "So you gonna give a speech, or you gonna ask a question?...You're gonna ask how many questions? You get three? They [other reporters] only got one question, why do you get three?"

When Flores eventually gets to ask DeSantis about the senior citizens waiting overnight for the vaccine, the governor responds sharply: "Where was that at?"

Flores said there have been such lines in places such as Orange County and Lee County, DeSantis asks if Flores investigated why that happened.

"That's my question to you, you're the governor of the state," Flores replies.

DeSantis goes on to say that the queues were formed because the hospitals provided them on a first come first serve basis, rather than through appointment.

"The state is not dictating the hospitals...that would be a total disaster," DeSantis adds when asked why the state did not put a plan in place to ensure senior citizens wouldn't have to wait in line for hours for the vaccine.

"These guys are much more competent to be able to deliver healthcare services than a state government could ever be."

The clip was originally tweeted by @FirenzeMike to criticize the Florida governor.

It was also shared by right-wing news site The Daily Caller, which had a different take.

"A CNN reporter takes on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis," The Daily Caller official account tweeted. "It does not work out well for her."

The Daily Caller's tweet was later taken down.

In response to the Daily Caller's post, CNN reporter Jim Acosta tweeted: "Actually our @RosaFlores does a fantastic job here insisting that the governor answer the question. It's too bad DeSantis frequently interrupts and insults Rosa. But we've seen that routine before."
