Who Is Roxanne Luckey? Matt Gaetz's Fiancée's Sister Called Him 'Weird and Creepy'

Representative Matt Gaetz's future sister-in-law, Roxanne Luckey, offered harsh criticism of the Republican in three videos posted on TikTok on Sunday and Monday, calling him "weird and creepy."

Luckey's older sister, Ginger Luckey, is engaged to Gaetz, who represents Florida's 1st congressional district. Roxanne Luckey worked briefly as an intern at the White House in the summer of 2020.

In the videos, Roxanne Luckey referred to an ongoing federal investigation of Gaetz. The FBI is investigating the congressman for possible sex crimes, including trafficking minors. Gaetz has denied any wrongdoing and previously suggested the allegations are part of an extortion plot against him.

Luckey, who is 20, posted the first video about Gaetz on social media platform TikTok on Sunday.

In the footage, viewed by Newsweek, she can be seen dancing and lip syncing to a song by Lana Del Rey while a New York Times headline about the Gaetz investigation is in the background.

Luckey has also alleged that while she was interning at the White House, Gaetz tried to set her up with an older man who was divorced and had a child. She was 19 at the time. She described Gaetz's role in the incident as "weird and creepy."

"I saw the character and type of person he is, and when everything came out about him, I honestly, unfortunately, was not surprised," Luckey said.

"As someone who has personally experienced a ton of creepy old politician men hitting on me when I was underage, and experiencing sexual assault at that age by people of power, it's very disheartening and I have zero tolerance of people like him," Luckey added.

Luckey claimed that when she and her mother confronted Gaetz about the incident at Thanksgiving "[h]e just immediately got so defensive and started yelling at me and my mom."

"He called me a narcissist, just was a thousand percent gaslighting me—went full lawyer, 'I don't have to listen to you, I don't have to answer your questions,'" she said.

Luckey said she was sharing the information in part because she thought it was important to "hold people accountable to whatever extent we can."

"There is so much more to the story and about what I know about Matt Gaetz," she said. "It is definitely a serious situation."

Sisters Are Currently Estranged

Ginger Luckey told The Daily Beast she is "estranged" from her younger sister.

"Matt and I are enjoying our engagement and are deeply in love. My estranged sister is mentally unwell," Ginger Luckey said. "She has been in therapy for years and our family hopes that after receiving in-patient mental health treatment, she will overcome the tendency she has repeatedly shown to engage in destructive behavior."

A spokesperson for Gaetz told The Daily Beast he supports Ginger Luckey and her statement.

Newsweek has asked Representative Matt Gaetz's office for comment.
