Royal Wedding 2018: Elton John Will Sing at Megan Markle and Prince Harry's Nuptials

Sir Elton John has reportedly been booked to perform at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal wedding this weekend.

According to TMZ, the legendary 71-year-old singer will take the stage at Windsor Castle this Saturday, although it's unclear whether he will entertain guests at the church ceremony or at the subsequent reception.

John has been close to the royal family for years, and notably performed "Candle in the Wind" at Harry and William's mother Princess Diana's funeral 21 years ago.

John also reportedly consoled Harry and his older brother Prince William after their mother's death, and attended Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge's wedding in 2011.

In March, John was asked by BBC Radio 2 whether he would perform at Prince Harry's nupitals."It will be nice because I love him very dearly," John replied, before joking that Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar could also take the stage at the special event.

Last summer, John visited Sicily with Harry and revealed that the prince was completely over the moon about his relationship with Markle.

"I could tell that he was totally in love," he told Lorraine Kelly in January. "And he didn't really discuss much personally, but he said, ''I'm in love' and I thought, Good for you."

Newsweek has reached out to John's representatives for comment.
