Royal Wedding: Prince Harry Asks William To Be Best Man As He Marries Meghan Markle

Kensington Palace said Prince William was asked by Prince Harry to be best man at his royal wedding to Meghan Markle.

"The Duke of Cambridge is honoured to have been asked, and is very much looking forward to supporting his brother," Kensington Palace tweeted, along with a photo of the two brothers playing as boys.

In the photo, the two are posing in police hats and belts with radios.

Prince Harry will marry Markle, an American actress, at a ceremony in St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, on May 19. He was Prince William's best man back in 2011 when his brother married Kate Middleton.

Kensington Palace said 2,640 people from "every corner of the United Kingdom" will be invited into the grounds of Windsor Castle for the wedding.

There, they will have the chance to watch the bride, groom and their guests as they arrive and depart St George's Chapel.

Around 600 people have been invited into the chapel for the service itself, among them the close friends and family of the couple.

Performing at the wedding ceremony will be Sheku Kanneh-Mason, a 19-year-old British cellist who won BBC Young Musician of the Year in 2016.

The couple has requested that guests do not send wedding gifts, instead asking for donations to charity.
