Rush Limbaugh Calls Mueller Investigation, Its Aftermath 'A Manufactured Coup' Because of 2016 Election

Conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh, who claims to be an unabashed supporter of President Donald Trump, went on TV Thursday night to reiterate that Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation was a "manufactured coup," and that everyone involved in the investigation should be held accountable.

In a Fox News interview during Special Report With Bret Baier, Limbaugh said Democrats are still reeling from Trump's victory over Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election. He also staunchly defended Attorney General William Barr's four-page summary of the Mueller Report that determined there was no Russian collusion.

"The people of this country were told their president was a traitor. They were assured their president had colluded, had stolen the election. None of it happened," Limbaugh said. "This whole thing is a manufactured coup because they could not accept the results of the 2016 election, and they're continuing it."

Limbaugh said members in high offices of former President Barack Obama's administration, all the way to media members should be held accountable for findings in the Mueller Report.

"It has been two years that we have been distracted, this country has been placed through, it's gone through hell here." Limbaugh said.

The radio host said Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Democrats "want us to believe that Barr is lying about what's in this report and that there is evidence of collusion in this report." Limbaugh said if Barr was indeed lying, and if there was collusion, then Mueller himself probably would've stepped in to squelch the chatter.

"Where is Mueller saying, "Hey, Barr is lying about this because I found collusion, I found obstruction, it's in my report," Limbaugh said. "Mueller isn't saying that. Neither are the 19 pro-Hillary investigators on his staff saying that."

Limbaugh claimed Mueller knew there wasn't any collusion between Russia and the 2016 Trump campaign, even before the investigation began.

"There has never been any evidence of [collusion]," Limbaugh said. "I don't care what [Rep. Adam] Schiff says, don't care what [former FBI Director James] Comey says or any of the rest of them. They are continuing to try. You look at Rep. Eric Swalwell, and you look at Schiff, their conduct illustrates that this is an ongoing political project to get rid of Donald Trump. It has nothing to do with finding out if a foreign power had anything to do with our elections because a foreign power did not."

Limbaugh went beyond calling the two-year investigation into possible collusion a hoax. He said the aftermath is a continuation of "the biggest political scandal" in the last half-century or so.

"This is probably the biggest political scandal, certainly of our lifetime and maybe even longer," Limbaugh said. "I'm adamant the American people understand what has happened here. This is a huge hoax that has been perpetrated, that makes every other hoax in our lifetime pale in comparison."

Limbaugh went on to say he hopes Trump declassifies the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants, which Trump promised to do during an interview Wednesday on Fox News' Hannity. Limbaugh then suggested the president focus on the border wall and immigration, and less on health care.

"I wish he would declassify everything to do with FISA and everything to do with this investigation. And then announce he's closing the border and shutting down immigration until we can get a handle on it. And then, pardon everybody that has been abused by this unnecessary investigation," Limbaugh said.
