Russell Wilson Calls Ciara 'Heaven Sent' After She Dons Seahawks-Themed Met Gala Dress
Ciara wowed at the Met Gala on Monday in a dress inspired by her husband.
Russell Wilson, the Seattle Seahawks quarterback, called his wife and the model/singer "heaven sent" after she stunned at the New York event in a Seahawks-themed dress.

Ciara sported a green, full-length dress with Wilson's No. 3 that was inspired by Seattle's fluorescent color-rush uniform to the annual fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The dress was designed by Peter Dundas and inspired by Geoffrey Beene's jersey dress—a piece of art that the fashion designer donated to the Met in 2001.
She even accessorized it with a football-shaped clutch and Wilson's most valuable possession, the championship ring he and the Seahawks after they crushed the Denver Broncos 43-8 in Super Bowl XLVIII—that coincidentally also took place in the New York area at MetLife Stadium.

The gala's theme Monday was "American Independence," and some of the richest and most influential public figures donned extravagant attire as is customary for the event.
Ciara's dress was the most prominent sports-themed outfit, but she wasn't the only sports figure to make an appearance. Los Angeles Lakers guard Russell Westbrook attended the gala for the first time, in a more traditional navy Ralph Lauren suit, with navy hair and white painted stars on his head.
"When I showed up to the fitting, my hair was a copper, brown color, and then I saw the suit, and I was like 'I have an idea," Westbrook told GQ Sports. "When I saw the blue, I said 'I can do a blue suit. I can have this blue theme.' With blue being my favorite color, [I can] do the blue hair and make sure the hair kinda matches close enough with the suit."
Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry wore a black Michael Jackson–inspired Versace tuxedo, and his wife Ayesha joined him in a custom Versace gown.
Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was also on hand, and Miami Heat forward P.J. Tucker sported an orange Velour suit from Gucci.

Controversial soccer star Megan Rapinoe donned a custom Sergio Hudson suit that she themed "In Gay We Trust."
Many tennis stars, who recently finished competing at the U.S. Open in Queens, were also on hand. Serena Williams sported a floor-length, fur cape over a Gucci romper.
Naomi Osaka wore a colorful dress from Louis Vuitton that was inspired by immigrants and her Japanese and Haitian heritage.
U.S. Open women's singles champion Emma Raducanu and fellow upstart finalist Leylah Fernandez were each on hand after their breakout performances at the Open. Men's singles semifinalist Felix Auger-Aliassime was also at the event.

Tennis star Sloane Stephens and soccer-playing fiancé Jozy Altidore attended together in Aliette attire.
Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton, fresh off a wreck at the Italian Grand Prix, was in New York for the event and reportedly purchased a table for emerging Black fashion designers.
Seven-time Olympic gold medalist Allyson Felix, who claimed a pair of medals at the 2020 Tokyo Games, wowed in this white Fendi dress.
Suni Lee, who won three medals in Tokyo including a gold in the all-around gymnastics event, had a dress that matched her medal Monday.
Finally, Olympic gymnast Simone Biles turned heads in a crystal-embellished dress that reportedly weighed nearly as much as her.
