UPDATE: 5:05 p.m. EST—The Marin County Sheriff's Office confirmed to KGO reporter Wayne Freedman that a male suspect was in custody following the shooting at Helen Vine Detox Center early Monday morning.

Original story:

Police officers are searching for a suspect wanted for allegedly shooting three people, killing one, at the Helen Vine Detox Center early Monday morning.

Marin County Sheriff's Office Sergeant Michael Brovelli said in a press release that the shooting was first reported at 1:33 a.m. PST at the detox center located just north of the San Rafael, California, city limit.

When deputies arrived, they found two men and a woman had been shot and one of the men had died as a result of his wounds. The other two victims were transported to the hospital, but Brovelli did not elaborate on their conditions. All victims were described as adults but ages and identifying information was not initially released.

Brovelli explained in the press release the scene is secure, but the suspect fled the scene, prompting an immediate search of the area. An investigation is currently being conducted.

The Helen Vine Detox Center is part of Buckelew Programs and is a licensed 26-bed residential detox program for both men and women. Along with providing recovery-oriented services for people with alcohol and drug addiction issues, the detox center also provides services for co-occurring psychiatric problems.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
