Sandy Alcantara is off to a hot start this season. After struggling in his first season back from Tommy John surgery, the former Cy Young winner has yet to allow an earned run and has also won his first two starts.
Last summer, he was the subject of trade rumors, but his struggles ultimately forced the Miami Marlins to hold onto him. Miami is 5-1 to start the season, but if it falls out of contention, Alcantara may be on the block at the trade deadline. If that is the case, then Miami should be able to land a solid haul of prospects for its ace.
Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report listed Alcantara is a possible trade chip this season, and among the potential fits listed were the Houston Astros.

"The righty finished last year with a 3.13 ERA over his last 12 starts," Rymer wrote. "He started this year with seven scoreless innings on Opening Day. He sat in the 97-mph range with both his four-seamer and sinker, peaking at 99 mph.
"If Alcantara can keep this up, his $17.3 million salary and $21 million option might not scare even more thrifty spenders away."
The Astros entered Thursday with a half-game lead over the Texas Rangers in the American League West, having won five consecutive games after dropping their first two. They lost Framber Valdez in free agency to the Detroit Tigers, so adding a starter at the deadline might be wise.
Alcantara can provide solid innings coverage when healthy, so if he can keep up his hot start, then Houston would benefit from pursuing him and potentially adding him to its rotation.
