Sean Hannity Attacks Marie Yovanovitch, Calling Her a 'Narcissistic Diplomat Snowflake'

Fox News host Sean Hannity railed Friday against former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch as a "narcissistic diplomatic snowflake" in his latest defense of President Donald Trump.

Trump himself received widespread criticism and allegations of witness intimidation for ridiculing Yovanovitch on Twitter during her testimony before House lawmakers Friday. But Hannity, one of Trump's most prominent cheerleaders on Fox News, labeled her and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff "liars" and narcissists. Hannity described her as a "snowflake" for testifying Friday about attorney Rudy Giuliani and other Trump administration officials leading a smear campaign against her.

Although Trump's tweet did not directly threaten Yovanovitch, the law also covers intimidation and harassment, which is an impeachable offense punishable by up to three years in prison.

Hannity followed the president's lead and repeatedly labeled Yovanovitch a self-important official looking to make a name for herself using the impeachment inquiry.

He reiterated Republican Congressman Jim Jordan's frequent criticism of the impeachment inquiry that every witness called to testify has only heard things second-hand. House Democrats and other critics have noted that the Trump administration has blocked any first-hand witnesses from talking about the allegations of quid pro quo.

"We didn't hear from an actual fact witness again!" Hannity complained on his show Friday. "She knew nothing! As Devin Nunes said, why was she even there? We just get more testimony and more testimony. Yes, another self-important very narcissistic diplomat snowflake who can't take minor, tiny, baby criticism."

Hannity called Schiff a "congenital liar" during a segment he comically labeled, "Schiff Show."

Yovanovitch, who was the United States ambassador to Ukraine from 2016 to 2019, was also targeted by Trump, who claimed "everywhere" she ever served "turned bad." Schiff briefly interrupted her testimony to read the tweet aloud in front of the House impeachment inquiry and requested reaction.

"It's very intimidating," Yovanovitch replied. "I can't speak to what the president is trying to do, but the effect is to be intimidating."

"Some of us here take witness intimidation very, very seriously," Schiff replied in a stern tone.

Former GOP prosecutor of Bill Clinton in the 1990s, Kenneth Starr, even rebuked Trump on Fox News, saying: "You don't attack a public servant in the middle of her testimony. Period. Full stop. Let others do the work for you."

"What was the attack?" Hannity asked him. "Tell me what the attack is!

"Have we become a nation of total snowflakes? This is the most innocuous thing in the world. 'Oh, my precious feelings were hurt!'" Hannity continued.

White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham also downplayed Trump's live criticisms of the former ambassador, issuing a statement to The New York Times Friday that played up Trump's typical talking points on the inquiry overall: "The tweet was not witness intimidation. It was simply the president's opinion, which he is entitled to. This is not a trial, it is a partisan political process — or to put it more accurately, a totally illegitimate, charade stacked against the president."
