Is Sean Spicer Still On 'Dancing With The Stars'? Controversial Figure's Season Recap After Episode 6

Episode 6 of Dancing With The Stars premiered Monday night to a sea of viewers with contradicting comments on contestant Sean Spicer. It's not uncommon for the former White House press secretary to be the subject of conversation both before and after each episode airs. Because of his past ties to the Trump administration, some reality TV viewers want to see him removed from the series.

Those viewers may feel let down after Monday night's episode; Spicer was not sent home. The former political voice is still on Dancing With The Stars, and it seems unlikely his time on the ABC program will end anytime soon. This is because as the season progresses, Spicer's praise continues to grow.

Monday night, instead, saw Sailor Brinkley-Cook and Ally Brooke in the bottom two. The celebrities were shocking choices, as both have placed highly in the competition.

Brinkley-Cook was officially sent home Monday with a judges score of 27 of 30. She tied for the highest score of the night with James Van Der Beek and Kate Flannery.

Spicer was given an overall score of 21 of 30: the lowest of the night. The judges had constructive criticism for Spicer, but did comment on his growth and effort. They also claimed the crowd enjoys watching him perform.

Dancing With The Stars is a reality dance competition, which shows celebrities attempting to learn and perform choreographed dances. Much of their scoring comes from their ability to master technical talents. According to the show's judges, Spicer has shown improvement since the season began.

When the season started, viewers seemingly didn't think Spicer would last long. The star's dance was heavily discussed on social media, partially thanks to Spicer's lime green, ruffled shirt. Since, the conversation has only continued in two different sectors.

First, a large voice on social media is asking for the removal of Spicer from the competition because of his ties to President Donald Trump. Others are loudly advocating for Spicer's safety on the show, including Trump himself. Last Monday, Trump told his Twitter followers to vote for Spicer to remain on the show.

It isn't entirely up to the viewers. America can vote for the safety of their favorite celebrities, but their votes only select the bottom two. The two dancing pairs in jeopardy, then, are passed along to the judges, who select only one celebrity to stay.

The judges seem to appreciate Spicer's technical improvement, which could give him a chance to continue in the competition, even if he ever finds himself in the bottom two. After Disney Night in mid-October, the judges applauded Spicer's Toy Story-themed dance, and claimed his growth was obvious.

Even professional dancer Cheryl Burke thinks Spicer could make it to the finale. The dance pro told Us Weekly it comes down to political support. "Trump tweeted for Sean Spicer!" she explained. "I wouldn't be shocked if he made the final. Bristol Palin made the final in a gorilla suit. She wasn't the best dancer, but people wanted her there. So at the end of the day, you know, I wouldn't be shocked."
