'Arcane' Secret Lair Cards: When 'Magic the Gathering' Is Releasing the Collectible Items

Arcane will soon be crossing over with Magic: The Gathering for a new collection of "Secret Lair" cards.

If that read like a bunch of meaningless words strung together in an incredibly confusing sentence, then let's take them one at a time.

Arcane is a Netflix original that serves as an animated prequel for the video game League of Legends. Its episodes have been drip fed through in batches of three over the past couple of weeks and it's due to air its finale on Saturday, November 20.

Meanwhile, Magic: The Gathering (often abbreviated to MTG) is a trading card game and global phenomenon. In addition to the main series — which has its own lore and interconnected multiversal storylines — it also has a sub-brand that it uses for crossovers and quirkier offshoots.

Known as "Secret Lair," this label has previously seen the launch of Godzilla, The Walking Dead and even International Women's Day collections. The next property to be featured here will be Arcane.

What Is the 'Arcane X Secret Lair' Release Date?

Although the full lineup of new cards has yet to be unveiled (this will happen sometime after the Arcane finale has been released to avoid spoilers) we know that there will be two separate drops.

The first is the main Secret Lair X Arcane collection, which will have cards that depict various characters and spells from the show.

This will then be followed by the Secret Lair X Arcane: Lands set, which, as its name suggests, is more about the iconic locations found in the warring cities of Piltover and Zaun. As revealed exclusively by PC Gamer, there will be cards here for the plains, mountain, island, forest and swamp regions.

The first drop will occur on Monday, November 29 at 12 p.m. ET. The second drop will then take place sometime between then and December 23.

After December 23, the limited-time collection will be pulled from circulation, and you will no longer be able to purchase either Arcane set.

'Secret Lair X Arcane' Cost and Where to Buy

Both the standard Arcane and 'Arcane: Lands' drops will be priced at $29.99. This cost will shoot up to $39.99 if you decide to go with the foil editions instead.

When they have both launched, sometime between November 29 and December 23, they will be available to buy from publisher Wizards of the Coast's website.

Like all other Secret Lair drops, they will only be available for a limited time.

MTG isn't the only brand that Arcane is crossing over with, as a cosmetic bundled themed after the character Jinx recently debuted in the Fortnite item shop.
