Selena Gomez's New Coach Collaboration Surfaces Amid Reported Rehab Stint

Coach is still there for Selena Gomez. As the multihyphenate star continues her reported rehab stay, the luxury brand unveiled a new campaign Friday to kick off its new holiday collection, starring Gomez.

"Lights, Camera, Holiday," the video advertisement began. In the whimsically festive clip, Gomez appears as herself as she auditions for the Coach Holiday Window Display. She goes up for the part against an animated frog, fox and owl.

"I can stand still so good," Gomez said before showing off her skills. When asked if she'd be "OK" working alongside owls, she responded excitedly: "Owls? I love owls! I go owl watching."

Gomez first teamed up with Coach in December 2016. Since then, the brand has continued to back the young star.

"The woman I design for is authentic, honest, and presents a romantic charm mixed with a cool attitude. Selena embodies those qualities perfectly," Stuart Vevers, Coach's executive creative director, explained to Elle in September. "She really wants to understand what we do philanthropically."

Vevers continued: "Coach supports Step Up, which is an organization that mentors young women in high school. Selena's done some events with us and with Step Up. That was as important to her as the fashion."

The 26-year-old "Back to You" singer's latest Coach campaign came after she reportedly had an emotional breakdown. She was hospitalized twice within a two-week span before checking into rehab in October. She's reportedly been to rehab three times.

Before her most recent stay, she announced her intentions to take a break from social media in September. "Taking a social media break. Again. As much as I am grateful for the voice that social media gives each of us, I am equally grateful to be able to step back and live my life present to the moment I have been given," Gomez wrote. "Kindness and encouragement only for a bit! Just remember—negative comments can hurt anybody's feelings. Obvi."

Within the comments section of this post, Gomez replied to fan account @sexlikeselena's remark about how pleased the fan was to see Gomez "so HAPPY recently." Gomez, in turn, put the fan at ease by sharing how she was the "best I've ever been."

Gomez's rumored rehab visit follows that of her childhood friend, fellow Disney alum Demi Lovato, who entered a treatment facility after a drug overdose in July. In an interview with Elle  in September, Gomez commented briefly on Lovato's incident. "All I'm saying is, I reached out personally. I didn't do a public thing. I didn't want to. I…I love her. I've known her since I was 7," Gomez said. "So…it's…that's what I'll say."

Gomez has not confirmed her stint in rehab. In 2017, however, she talked to Vogue about why she sought treatment.

“Tours are a really lonely place for me," she said. "My self-esteem was shot. I was depressed, anxious. I started to have panic attacks right before getting onstage, or right after leaving the stage."

Gomez continued: "Basically I felt I wasn't good enough, wasn't capable. I felt I wasn’t giving my fans anything, and they could see it, which, I think, was a complete distortion. I was so used to performing for kids."
