'Shadow and Bone' Season 2: Meet the Actors Playing Nikolai, Wylan, Tolya and Tamar

Netflix's Shadow and Bone has added four new cast members to its roster as production begins on its second season.

The show previously adapted the first of Leigh Bardugo's novels from the "Grishaverse" franchise and the second will focus on the events that take place in both Siege and Storm and Six of Crows.

Given the material it is based on, the show will introduce four new characters: Nikolai Lantsov, Wylan Van Eck, Tolya Yul-Bataar and Tamar Kir-Bataar.

Here is everything you need to know about the characters and the actors who are set to play them in the Netflix series.

Who Nikolai, Wylan, Tolya and Tamar are in 'Shadow and Bone' and Who Will Be Playing Them in Season 2

Nikolai Lantsov

Nikolai Lantsov is the second son of the Ravkan king Alexander III and queen Tatiana, though the legitimacy of his birth has been questioned throughout his life.

The Ravkan prince is known by many names, like the Too-Clever Fox and Sobachka (which means puppy in Ravkan). He also has his own secret alter ego.

Nikolai features prominently in Bardugo's novels; he is a key part of the Shadow and Bone trilogy and is the titular character in the King of Scars duology.

He will be portrayed by The OA star Patrick Gibson in the Netflix adaptation.

Wylan Van Eck

Wylan Van Eck is the son of Ketterdam merchant Jan Van Eck and becomes a part of the Dregs during the events of Six of Crows.

He joins members Kaz Brekker (Freddy Carter), Inej Ghafa (Amita Suman), Jesper Fahey (Kit Young), Nina Zenik (Danielle Galligan) and Matthias Helvar (Calahan Skogman) in the gang and is the eponymous sixth crow.

Wylan is a demolitions expert who helps the crew during their heist of Fjerdan's Ice Court in Six of Crows and he is estranged from his father who treated him cruelly during his childhood.

The character has been renamed Wylan Hendricks in the show, which is a reference to Wylan's mother Marya Hendricks. He will be portrayed by Jack Wolfe in the Netflix production.

Tolya Yul-Bataar and Tamar Kir-Bataar

Tolya Yul-Bataar and Tamar Kir-Bataar are twin siblings who work alongside Nikolai and are Grisha who originate from Shu Han.

The twins are both powerful Heartrenders, meaning they are able to control the human body from the inside using their Grisha abilities.

Persecution of Grisha forced Tolya and Tamar to flee their homeland, which is how they came to work with Nikolai. They later become supporters of Alina Starkov (Jessie Mei Li).

Lewis Tan will portray Tolya while Anna Leong Brophy has been cast as Tamar. Tan starred in Mortal Kombat while Leong Brophy previously appeared in Traces.

Shadow and Bone Season 1 is available to stream on Netflix now. A release date has yet to be given for Season 2.
