Touched by the little girl's generosity, TikTok user @oakleywillowandhuman decided to share the beautiful note in her video, which was posted back in August. Liv, who recently gave Newsweek permission to use her video, said she does not work at the shelter, but she is a local in the community. The story brought her to tears.
Her caption reads: "Abby i love u and you have amazing parents."
The animal shelter shared about Abby's wonderful donation to Facebook, which immediately pulled on people's heartstrings and brought everyone to tears.
Kent County Animal Shelter used Abby's funds to purchase an automated cat toy, as well as other enrichment toys and treats. Plus, her donation sparked others to jump on board. The post even reached the KONG Company, which donated a box full of dog and cat toys.
An article from WOOD TV in Grand Rapids, Michigan, reported that the shelter received between $5,000 and $7,000 following Abby's donation. The shelter director told the station that the difference in numbers could be because some of the donations might not have been a result of Abby's story.
Newsweek reached out to the Kent County Animal Shelter on Wednesday morning for additional comment.
Viewer Reactions
The TikTok video had amassed more than 765,900 views, 166,400 likes and 730 comments as of Wednesday.
"Abby is going SO MANY PLACES," said one viewer.
Another added: "Dear universe please protect Abby at all costs."
A third person pointed out: "She's an animal lover and her parents support it. This melted my heart."
