The Shield Return on Monday Night RAW

The Shield, one of WWE's most dominant factions, returned on the Monday Night RAW after SummerSlam 2018.

Universal Champion Roman Reigns had just pinned Finn Balor in the main event when Money in the Bank briefacase holder Braun Strowman appeared to cash in and take the title away from an exhausted Reigns. Just before the bell rang to start the new WWE Universal Championship match, the Shield's entrance music came on. Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins appeared from the back in their Shield attire, and the reunion was complete.

Reigns, Rollins and Ambrose surrounded Strowman. The four men got into a messy brawl which spilled outside the ring. Despite his best efforts, Strowman could not overcome the Shield and was put through the announce table with a triple powerbomb.

Check out the Shield reunion below as Rollins, Ambrose and Reigns put Strowman through a table.

This isn't the first time The Shield has returned. Last year, just before the Tables, Ladders and Chairs pay-per-view, the three men reunited to take on Braun Strowman, Cesaro and Sheamus. However, Roman came down with an illness and was out of competition for weeks. RAW General Manager Kurt Angle took his place in that match. Shortly after, Dean Ambrose suffered a tricep injury that kept him out for nine months, putting the kibosh on a Shield reunion.

Since then, Rollins has captured the Intercontinental Championship and become one of the most over wrestlers in the company. Roman finally beat Brock Lesnar to win the Universal Championship at this year's SummerSlam, and Ambrose just returned from injury last week. So it seems as good a time as any to get The Shield back together (again).
