5 Shows to Watch If You Like 'Only Murders in the Building'

There is good news for fans of Only Murders in the Building. The crime-comedy-drama starring Selena Gomez, Martin Short and Steve Martin will be returning for a second season, hopefully providing answers to all of the questions we have from the incredibly successful first season.

Unfortunately, Season 2 is not expected to arrive until 2022, leaving audiences with a lot of time (not Tim) to kill. Luckily, Newsweek has a list of five great shows in a similar vein to Only Murders in the Building you will not want to miss in the meantime.

5 Shows to Watch If You Like Only Murders in the Building

1. Mozart in the Jungle

If you enjoyed the character of Jan and her bassoon, Mozart in the Jungle is the show for you.

In Mozart in the Jungle, Gone Girl's Lola Kirke stars as Hailey Rutledge, a young oboist who catches the eye of New York Symphony's conductor Rodrigo De Souza (Gael Garcia Bernal).

Just like Only Murders in the Building, Mozart in the Jungle is set in New York City and just like The Arconia, Mozart in the Jungle features lots of ridiculously suave Manhattan apartments.

Interestingly, the show was inspired by oboist Blair Tindall's 2005 memoir of her professional career in New York titled Mozart in the Jungle: Sex, Drugs, and Classical Music.

Mozart in the Jungle ran for four seasons and was praised by critics, taking home several accolades including two Golden Globes and two Primetime Emmy Awards.
Mozart in the Jungle is streaming on Amazon Prime now.

2. Nancy Drew

Nancy Drew is one of the most iconic literary detectives and in 2019, she was brought to the small screen for The CW.

The series may not be a comedy as such, but it has the same mystery elements and plot twists and turns Only Murders in the Building fans will love.

Just like Mabel, Nancy has an eye for solving mysteries and getting justice for those at the heart of the crime.

The character of Nancy Drew was conceived by Edward Stratemeyer, the same man who created The Hardy Boys, the books that inspired Mabel and Tim as kids and remained as a reference point throughout Only Murders in the Building.

In The CW's adaptation, Kennedy McMann stars as Nancy Drew, alongside Leah Lewis as George, Maddison Jaizani as Bess Turani Marvin, and Riley Smith as Ryan Hudson.

Season 3 of Nancy Drew recently premiered on The CW, with episodes premiering every Friday on the channel.

Nancy Drew is streaming on HBO Max now.

3. Search Party

If you fancy a laugh-out-loud comedy, Search Party is not one to be missed.

Just like Only Murders in the Building, Search Party is also set in New York City and has a strong female character at the center.

Arrested Development's Alia Shawkat stars as Dory, a college student determined to solve the disappearance of her classmate Chantal Winterbottom.

She ropes in boyfriend Drew Gardner (John Reynolds), and friends Elliott Goss (John Early) and Portia Davenport (Meredith Hagner) to help solve Chantal's disappearance, just like Mabel did with Charles and Oliver in her search for Tim Kono's killer.

There have been three more seasons since season 1 premiered in 2016, with the fifth season on the way. You do not want to miss it.

Search Party is streaming on HBO Max now.

4. Selena + Chef

Selena + Chef may seem like a rogue recommendation but if you are a fan of Gomez and want to see more of her on your screen, then is the perfect show for you.

In Selena + Chef, the actress, singer, and businesswoman hangs out with professional chefs to learn more about cooking and experimenting with new recipes.

Just like Only Murders in the Building, Selena + Chef is your next heartwarming, wholesome show you can get behind and the good news is, Season 3 is coming to screens on Thursday, October 28.

Selena + Chef is streaming on HBO Max now.

5. The Flight Attendant

If you are looking for something a little darker but will make keep you on the edge of your seats and laughing out loud, Kaley Cuoco's The Flight Attendant should be next on your list.

The Flight Attendant is a black comedy/mystery thriller that follows the story of flight attendant Cassie Bowden (played by Cuoco) who wakes up in Bangkok to find a passenger on her flight lying dead next to her.

Instead of calling the police, she attempts to clean up the crime scene and for weeks suffers flashbacks and hallucinations of the night before the mysterious man was found in her bed.

Just like Only Murders in the Building, there is a killer on the loose and it could be anybody, even Cassie.

After its first season, The Flight Attendant received several big award nominations including two Golden Globe nominations, three Hollywood Critics Association TV Awards, and five Primetime Emmy Awards.

The Flight Attendant is streaming on HBO Max now.
