'Sims 4' To Get a 'Great Deal of Content' This Year, Says EA

EA promised more content for Sims 4 this year during the company's fourth quarter fiscal 2018 earnings call. CEO Andrew Wilson stressed commitment to the PC platform. "We have a great deal more content coming to our PC players this year," he said.

The report states 80 million active Sims players across PC and mobile in FY18, an impressive number for a game that launched four years ago. Wilson's statement comes after a relatively dry few months for Sims 4 PC players. There has been no substantial DLC since the Jungle Adventure game pack released in February. There has also been no announcement trailer or quarterly content teaser trailer. A social media post for EA Play teasing "the next Sims experience" had many players concerned for the very future of the game amid the worldwide launch of Sims Mobile, in addition to the consistent rollout of DLC for the new console version of the game.

It didn't help fan's worries when earlier this month respected community manager SimGuruDrake parted ways with the company, severing the generous line of communication between the developers and players. After weeks of silence, SimGuruGraham took to the forums to address the absence of news.

"Murmurs of the SimGurus on the PC team being quieter than normal haven't fallen on deaf ears," SimGuruGraham wrote in the Sims forums. "Those of you active in online Sims' communities likely know that SimGuruDrake, our former PC community manager, chose to leave and pursue other opportunities recently. As game developers, we're given a ton of freedom to go out and discuss many aspects of our jobs and The Sims from our personal point of view. Because of that, it's important that we have someone in our CM role to help look out for us devs, and moderate tough discussions. They're also on the frontline of sharing official statements from the studio. In light of that, us SimGurus on the PC team have been asked to exercise additional careful judgment in what we say until that CM role is filled."

Expect the next major news about Sims 4 at EA Play, held at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles June 9-11. Any ideas about what's in store for the future of the game? Let us know in the comments.
