Skinwalker Ranch Livestream Gives You a Rare Glimpse Into Its Dark Heart

Utah's Skinwalker Ranch will become digitally accessible to paranormal buffs everywhere on Monday.

The History Channel is giving supernatural stans unprecedented access to the well-known extraterrestrial hotbed with an exclusive overnight live stream. And in advance of that, on Friday, a Reddit "Ask Me Anything" (AMA) session will allow subscribers of the r/paranormal community to communicate with Travis Taylor, the legendary location's data scientist.

Skinwalker Ranch has long been a haven for apparent paranormal and unexplainable happenings, including UFO and odd creature sightings, as well as animal mutilation. The 512-acre ranch has been called "UFO Alley" and also raises questions about possible electromagnetic fields with no apparent source. Its ever-changing levels have even crossed into territory that poses a danger to humans, according to a January Vice tell-all.

Both online events will preview the History Channel's upcoming nonfiction documentary series, The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch, which will dive deep into the science and mysteries surrounding the location's extreme unexplained occurrences.

Once a part of a Pentagon study of UFOs, the ranch was purchased by its current owner, Brandon Fugal, in 2016. He told Newsweek that his time at Skinwalker Ranch has changed the way he looks at the world.

"For the first time in my life, I have been witness to things that defy any conventional explanation. My experiences on the ranch have forced me to re-examine my views, and to keep a more open mind," he said via email.

"I believe it could be the greatest science project of our time, with the potential to prove that we are not alone in the universe, or that we are part of a multi-dimensional reality," Fugal continued. "The property is truly unique in the sense that the site has had 24/7/365 security surveillance for over 24 years, and is a living laboratory."

What, exactly, viewers could see on the live stream is unknown to even Fugal. "Strange events and incidents happen on the ranch without notice or provocation," he explained. "Completely unpredictable. Livestream viewers can expect to see everything from the usual security patrols on the ranch, to observing the striking native landscape as we do on a constant basis."

Taylor, the data scientist, mentioned some of the more unexplainable happenings that lucky supernatural fans could potentially witness. "In the past year I have experienced 'high strangeness' phenomena that I never believed in before and wouldn't still had I not measured them with scientific instruments," he told Newsweek.

"Watch closely and you are likely to see UFOs, strange lights in the sky appearing and vanishing, the Mesa glowing and flickering, unknown creatures wandering by, and any number of other crazy things you won't believe until you see."

Both Taylor and Fugal admitted that the ranch has made them more open to things they didn't necessarily believe in before their time there. Still, Taylor is hesitant to use the word "paranormal."

"Paranormal is not exactly the word I like to use for it because it implies supernatural non-explainable things," he explained over email. "While what we observed is currently indistinguishable from magic, presently, we do have some scientific data and hypotheses that might lead us to a new level of understanding of the Universe (with a big U)."

Because its extreme occurrences are so unique, the ranch could possibly make scientific history. "What is different about Skinwalker Ranch over other places is that at the ranch, we've actually gotten hard scientific evidence of crazy things that I have not found elsewhere," Taylor said. "Not saying it doesn't exist elsewhere, I'm just saying we actually got real, REAL, evidence at Skinwalker Ranch."

The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch, which will premiere March 31 on History Channel, will include scientific experiments to search for answers. Some of the tools that will be used include "lasers and ground-penetrating radar to drone thermography," according to the History Channel.

Taylor's AMA will take place on Friday at noon. ET on Reddit's r/paranormal thread.

The 12-hour, overnight live stream hosted by History Channel will follow on Monday, March 30, from 8 p.m. ET to 8 a.m. ET, the History Channel told Newsweek.

This article has been updated to include that Taylor's AMA will take place at noon on Friday.
