Is Slack Down? Amazon AWS Outage Hits The Chat Service, Epic Games Store, Asana and More

Issues with Amazon's crucial web services business AWS are affecting platforms including Slack, Imgur, and the Epic Games store.

Online business communications platform Slack said that it is experiencing disruptions that are causing customers issues with "connectivity and other services." According to an incident update by Slack at 7:58 a.m. ET this includes disruptions to file uploads, message editing, and other services.

The platform, launched to the public back in August 2013, told users via its Twitter feed that it was looking into the problem and: "will update our status site as more information becomes available."

By 9:35 a.m. ET the platform, vital to users across the globe working from home as a result of the COVID pandemic, was reporting some "improvements with most services that were affected earlier while the issues with file uploads are ongoing."

Slack said that it was continuing to investigate and would post another update in around 30 minutes. This further update offered no new information.

Epic Games also posted an update to its Twitter feed regarding the issues saying: "Internet services outages are currently impacting the Epic Games Store, affecting logins, library, purchases, etc."

The Verge reported that the incident was the third time in three weeks that issues with AWS had significantly affected online services. Earlier in December issues with AWS had resulted in an array of services going down including popular streaming sites such as Disney + and Netflix.

Also impacted by this prior outage were security camera platforms Ring and Wyze, in addition to other smart home devices, The Verge reported on December 7.

This is a breaking story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
