Slack Down, Not Working? Messaging Service Outages Reported Online

Update: 2:19 p.m. ET— After widespread reports of outages from users on Tuesday, the messaging service Slack posted to Twitter that it appeared to have made some progress in fixing the issue.

It tweeted: "We're seeing positive signs of connections for users. We'll continue updates until we're all clear."

The messaging service Slack appeared to go down for a number of users on Tuesday as reports of outages flooded online.

"We're investigating the cause of connectivity issues affecting all users. Thanks for your patience," the service posted to Twitter.

More than 20 minutes later it added, "There's no new information to share just yet, but we're continuing our efforts. Your patience is truly appreciated."

Down Detector had received more than 500 reports of the service being down. The bulk of the outages were reported in the United States along the coasts, where the service is likely popular in workplaces.

Twitter was full of reports of Slack being down. Poster Tom Warren, an editor at the Verge, for instance: ‏"Slack is down... again. They need to get a lot better at reliability if they want big businesses and enterprises to consider Slack."
