Snapchat Servers Down, Not Working? Snaps Not Sending, Outage?

Some Snapchat users were experiencing issues with the app on Tuesday. Users were reporting that they were having issues sending snaps, receiving snaps and logging in or connecting to the servers.

Users reports were appearing on the website Down Detector and they appeared to be coming from the United States and Europe. Users were also tweeting about the apparent outage that seemed to start around 1:45 p.m. EST Tuesday afternoon.

Some users were tweeting that they were only on Twitter again to see whether Snapchat was down.

Users were mentioning that they thought the issues might be with the Snapchat servers and they were contacting the Snapchat Support Twitter account to check. The Snapchat Support Twitter account tweeted about the issue at 2:13 p.m. EST Tuesday and said, "Many Snapchatters are having trouble using the app. Hang tight, we're working on a fix! In the meantime, we recommend staying logged in."

Other users were reporting that they were seeing the usual "could not refresh" or "unable to refresh" notice in the app. But some were seeing something a bit more out of the ordinary. Users were tweeting that the app was displaying that their previous Snaps were sent on "December 31 1969." Users were sharing screenshots of the apparent glitch and explaining it on Twitter as well.

It's was unclear what exactly was causing the issue with the app on Tuesday or when it might be resolved.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
