Colin Jost and Michael Che are returning to Saturday Night Live as co-head writers, NBC confirmed on Sunday. The duo, who hosts the sketch comedy show's popular "Weekend Update" segment, is slated to write material for Season 44 alongside show writer Kent Sublette.

Jost and Che landed co-head writing positions for SNL in 2017 while Sublette has served as a co-head writer for the show since Season 42.

Before becoming a co-head writer on the show, Jost served as a staff writer, a position the 36-year-old landed fresh out of college back in 2005. He was promoted to SNL's writing supervisor from 2009 to 2012 and then landed his first shot as co-head writer in 2012. He stepped down from the role in 2015 but was later asked to return to his co-head writing duties with Che last year.

Che, a former correspondent on The Daily Show, joined the SNL cast in 2013. He replaced longtime cast member Cecily Strong as a "Weekend Update" anchor with Jost in 2014. His addition to the "Weekend Update" marked the sketch comedy show's first African American to co-anchor the segment since it was first performed by Chevy Chase and Herb Sargent in 1975.

The network has yet to reveal the hosts and musical performances slated for Season 44 as of yet. Jost and Che's fellow cast mates, including Kenan Thompson, Michael Che, Aidy Bryant, Beck Bennett, Pete Davidson, Kate McKinnon, Kyle Mooney and Strong are expected to return.

It was revealed Luke Null wouldn't return to SNL after appearing on the show for just one season. Null joined the show as a featured player back during the 2017-2018 primetime season along with newcomers Chris Redd and Heidi Gardner. He appeared in a limited number of skits during his time on the show. Redd and Gardner, however, are expected to return.

SNL picked up seven awards at the 2018 Emmys on Sunday.

Season 44 of SNL kicks off on September 29.
