SCE Power Outage Map: More Than 300,000 SoCal Edison Customers Face Shut Off Due to Santa Ana Winds and California Fire Risk

More than 300,000 Southern California Edison customers could face a power shut off on Wednesday and Thursday. This is due to powerful Santa Ana winds, which forecasters predict could be the strongest of the season with isolated gusts up to 80 miles per hour and relative humidity down to 3 percent, increasing fire risk in the Southern California area, as reported by CBS Los Angeles.

On Tuesday, at 11 p.m. local time, the National Weather Service issued a red flag warning which will remain in place until Thursday at 6 p.m.

List of areas that could be shut down by Southern California Edison due to the fire risk:

  • Kern County (22,330 customers).
  • Los Angeles County (86,305 customers): Agoura Hills, Calabasas, Palmdale, Malibu, San Fernando, Chatsworth, and Santa Clarita.
  • Mono County (12,874 customers).
  • Orange County (7,071 customers): Lake Forest and Orange.
  • Riverside County (33,816 customers): Murrieta, Banning, Perris, Corona, San Jacinto, Palm Springs, and Desert Hot Springs.
  • San Bernardino County (63,271 customers): City of San Bernardino, Morongo Valley, Crestline, Oak Glen, and Devore.
  • Ventura County (78,487 customers): Simi Valle, Santa Paula, Moorpark, Bell Canyon, Fillmore and Camarillo.

According to CBS Los Angeles, the city of Calabasas reported that SoCal Edison could shut off power in the Lost Hills and Agoura Road areas, and north of the 101 Freeway in Saratoga Hills and Ranch between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

Community Crew Vehicles and Community Resource Centers

SoCal Edison will provide Community Crew Vehicles equipped with backup power on Wednesday, October 30. Customers can use these vehicles to charge cell phones and water and snacks will also be provided. The vehicles will be located at:

  • San Bernardino County: Jessie Turner Health and Fitness Center, 15556 Summit Ave, Fontana, CA 92336, between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Kern County: Stallion Springs Community Center, 27800 Stallion Springs Dr, Tehachapi, CA, 93561, between 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Ventura County: City Hall - City Hall/Park, 970 E. Ventura St., Santa Paula 93060, between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

There will also be Community Resource Centers open to SoCal Edison customers on Wednesday, October 30:

  • Ventura County: Berylwood, 1955 Bridget Ave, Simi Valley, CA 93065, between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Ventura County: Fillmore Senior Center, 533 Santa Clara Street, Filmore, CA 93015, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Los Angeles County: The Agua Dulce Women's Club, 33201 Agua Dulce Canyon Rd, Agua, Dulce, CA 91390 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
