Psychic Scammer Convinced Woman Her Daughter Was Possessed by a Demon, Charged $70,000 for Exorcism, Police Say

A palm reader has been arrested on suspicion of stealing more than $70,000 from one of her clients after saying her child was possessed by a demon.

Tracey Milanovich, 37, of Somerset, Massachusetts, has been charged with six counts of obtaining property over $250 by trick, larceny over $1200 and intimidation of a witness, following an investigation by Somerset Police.

Milanovich, who runs Tracy's Psychic Palm Reader business on Counter Street, was investigated by police on December 17 after a woman came forward to allege she had been tricked into giving her large amounts of money.

Police allege that the suspect had convinced the woman her daughter was possessed by a demon, and that "cash and household items were needed in order to banish the spirit" from her child.

Milanovich is alleged to have stolen at least $71,000 from the victim. The mother also paid for additional materials for the suspect, such as towels and bedding.

As a result of the investigation, an arrest warrant for Milanovich was obtained and she was detained on December 27. She was later arraigned on December 30 at Fall River District Court.

Police are continuing to investigate Milanovich and are asking anyone who may have also been tricked by the palm reader to come forward.

"These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty," the department added in a statement.

Other people in the paranormal industry said people like Milanovich give them a bad reputation.

"It makes the rest of us look bad, who are doing this to help people," Lori Belche, who owns Enlightenings and does readings just a quarter of a mile down from the street from Milanovich's establishment, told CBS Boston.

Belche said people should have been wary of the amount of money she was charging her customers. Belche said she charges $50 for a 30-minute session.

"Look if I heard the number $1000, I'd be going 'red flag run away,'" Belche said.

"There are people who are desperate for an answer, and for someone who calls themselves a medium or a card reader, or a psychic, you shouldn't be taking advantage either."

Milanovich opened her palm reading business in Somerset in October 2018.

"It's something like a new form of acupuncture," Milanovich told the South Coast Today at the time. "Also, it regenerates blood cells. It helps with healing. It helps with inflammation."

Police are urging anyone who believed they have also been victimized by Milanovich to contact Somerset Police Officer Donald Cormier at 508-679-2138.

Somerset Police has been contacted for further comment.
