Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas Elope with Surprise Wedding Following 2019 Billboard Music Awards

Sophie Turner is officially a married woman.

The Game of Thrones star and pop singer Joe Jonas tied the knot in a surprise wedding at a Las Vegas chapel following the 2019 Billboard Music Awards on Wednesday.

News of the couple's elopement first surfaced when Diplo shared video footage of the ceremony on his Instagram Stories on Wednesday. Clips of the footage, which depicts Turner and Jonas exchanging vows, have since been shared across social media.

Turner's reps confirmed to Newsweek the couple was indeed "married in the U.S. last night."

In the footage, Turner stands at the altar wearing a white bridal pantsuit and veil. Jonas accompanies her in a grey suit. An Elvis impersonator officiated the ceremony while country music team Dan + Shay sang their chart-topping single "Speechless."

Instead of actual wedding rings, the 23-year-old actor and her new husband, 29, exchanged ring pops.

Just hours before walking down the aisle, Turner attended the Billboard Music Awards with Jonas, who performed at the star-studded event alongside his fellow Jonas Brothers members, Nick and Kevin Jonas.

The longtime couple got engaged more than two years ago after a year of dating. Turner, who was 21 at the time of Jonas' proposal, wasn't initially planning to get hitched at such a young age. The actor told Rolling Stone she was "fully preparing" to be single for the rest of her life before she fell in love with Jonas.

"I think once you've found the right person, you just know. I feel like I'm much older a soul than I am in age. I feel like I've lived enough life to know. I've met enough guys to know—I've met enough girls to know. I don't feel 22. I feel like 27, 28," Turner said in the March interview.

There is some speculation the couple will hold a second, more lavish ceremony in France during the summer. While unclear at the moment, that seems to be a strong possibility, considering many of the couple's family members and Turner's best friend and castmate Maisie Williams—who has previously claimed to be a bridesmaid—were not in attendance at the Vegas wedding.

Jonas has also previously teased specific events he'd like at his lavish wedding. "We're going to have a flag rugby game at the wedding and a flag football game," he said during a March appearance on The Late Late Show. "So if all the groomsmen show up with black eyes and broken arms, I'll be very proud."
