Taki Confirmed for ‘SoulCalibur VI’ in New Gameplay Trailer

Bandai Namco released a new gameplay trailer for the latest roster edition to SoulCalibur VI. The dangerous ninja, Taki makes her return to the series, bringing her signature dual blades and array of skills to the battlefield.

The official press release for Taki’s inclusion in SoulCalibur VI gives some flavor text for those unfamiliar with one of the series’ most iconic characters.

“Taki, one of the most iconic characters from the SOULCALIBUR franchise makes her official return to the series in SOULCALIBUR VI. Armed with dual blades, Taki is a true dealer of pain and destruction, able to take on all challengers in any arena of battle. Taki can be cold, emotionless, and serious - all attributes that make her a better ninja. She also has a deep sense of duty to complete an assigned mission, this makes her an even more focused weapon.”

You can check out Taki’s SoulCalibur VI gameplay in the trailer above.

The first thing fans will notice is Taki wears a mask similar to the one she donned in first SoulCalibur game. Taki has appeared without a mask since SoulCalibur II, so the mask reiterates Bandai Namco’s desire to retell the story of the first game as a reboot.

One aspect of Taki’s design that’s changed are the Japanese symbols that appear on her body when she’s performing various jutsu. They never used to appear before when she performed them, so it’s a neat little touch by the developers and designers.

Taki brings the SoulCalibur VI roster to 11, which also includes Mitsurugi, Kilik, Xianghua, Groh, Nightmare, Siegfried, Ivy, Sophitia, Zasalamel and Geralt from The Witcher series.

SoulCalibur VI will release on PS4, Xbox One and PC in 2018.
