Dimitri Payet has suggested he may be interested in a move away from West Ham United in search of Champions League football.

The French midfielder, who was nominated for player of the year last season, has struggled to rediscover that same form during West Ham's inconsistent campaign.

Payet, 29, expressed his desire to play in Europe's top club competition, which would require a move away from the London Stadium.

"The situation of my club affects me but I am an ambitious person," he told French radio RMC.

"I miss the Champions League, so I do not close the door on anything."

Payet has been linked with a move to Arsenal and spoke to the radio station about his admiration of Arsene Wenger's team.

"I read that Wenger considers me the missing piece of Arsenal's game, but he's never told me that," the Frenchman added.

"We conceded five or six at home against them. When you see them playing as a technical player, you could only have fun in that team. They're candidates for the title every year."

The transfer window reopens on January 1.
