Chelsea is preparing a third bid for Spanish striker Alvaro Morata after a £62 million ($82 million) offer was rejected by Real Madrid, according to reports.

Antonio Conte's search for a support striker for Diego Costa has seen him make two efforts to sign Morata from the Spanish club this summer.

The 23-year-old returned to the Bernabeu ahead of the new La Liga season after Madrid activated the buy-back clause, having sold him to Juventus in 2014.

Chelsea has already seen £50 million ($66 million) and £62 million ($82 million) bids rejected by the club but is set to return with an improved offer, according to the Daily Mail.

Should the London club be unable to secure the signature of Morata, it may turn its attentions to its former striker Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgian, who left Stamford Bridge in 2014 for Everton, is believed to be open to a return to his old club to link up with Conte.

Lukaku has scored 28 times in 73 appearances for the Merseyside club.
