If you can't beat them, sign them. After Leicester City beat Tottenham Hotspur to the Premier League title last season the London club may now look to swoop for Foxes midfielder Danny Drinkwater.

Contract talks between Drinkwater and Leicester are said to have broken down and Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino could hijack the deal, according to The Sun.

Drinkwater is rated at around £20 million ($26 million) but his departure from the King Power Stadium would see the champions lose the core of its midfield.

N'Golo Kante's industrious style in the center of the pitch helped propel Leicester to the title, but the Frenchman has now signed for Chelsea.

Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri will be keen not to lose Drinkwater just two weeks before the Foxes' new Premier League campaign begins.

The club takes on Jose Mourinho's Manchester United for the Community Shield on Sunday.
