Liverpool has a 48-hour deadline to agree a loan deal for Real Madrid wonderkid Martin Odegaard, according to reports.

The 17-year-old forward is set to be sent out on loan by Zinedine Zidane, the Real manager, to help Odegaard get first-team football.

Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool have been linked with a move for the Norwegian but now face a race to sign him, according to Ouest France.

The French publication says: "The board would like to, ideally, close the transaction within 48 hours.

"There are a dozen offers on the table, including one from a La Liga club, and those from West Ham and Liverpool, German clubs Leverkusen and Hamburg, and Dutch side Ajax."

The report suggested that the player preferred Germany, but noted that Zidane would make the decision.

If he came to Liverpool, Odegaard would be joining a team that began the Premier League in style, beating Arsenal 4-3 at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
