Sadio Mane has revealed that he snubbed a move to Manchester United before completing a £30 million ($39 million) transfer to Liverpool to work with Jurgen Klopp.

Mane, who signed for the Merseyside club from Southampton in June, confirmed Jose Mourinho's United had shown interest in signing him.

But the Senegalese forward said the draw of working with Klopp at Anfield was just too great to turn down.

"There was interest from a lot of clubs, not just Manchester United, but as soon as I knew Liverpool were interested I just felt it was the right club with the right coach," Mane told the Liverpool Echo.

"It was the right move. I recognize the size of the club and to progress to another level as a player this was the club and the moment for me. It was a step I need to make."

The 24-year-old moved to the Premier League in the summer of 2014, scoring 21 goals in 54 appearances for the Saints.
