Manchester United is looking to capitalize on rumors that Robert Lewandowski is unhappy at Bayern Munich, according to reports, but Jose Mourinho's team will have to battle Chelsea for the striker.

Lewandowski, the 28-year-old striker, was disappointed at the end of last season with his agent claiming that he didn't receive enough support from his team in finishing as top scorer in the Bundesliga. Borussia Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang beat Lewandowski by one goal to win the golden boot in Germany.

According to the Daily Mail, Lewandowski is keen to test himself in the Premier League and living in London appeals to him, making Chelsea as the likely destination should he leave Germany.

But the reports suggests Lewandowski would cost around £120 million (about $150 million) that may price Antonio Conte's team out of the market.

Mourinho, however, is desperate to add a prolific goalscorer to his team after the club released Zlatan Ibrahimovic this summer, with the 35-year-old Swede finishing last season as United's top scorer; no other player got into double figures.

United has been linked with a move for Real Madrid's Alvaro Morata but the Mail says the club would want to sign Lewandowski if the opportunity arose, especially due to his prolificity. He has scored 105 goals in the last two seasons for club and country.

The power lies with Bayern, however, as Lewandowski signed a new deal with the German champion last December that would keep him at the Allianz Arena until 2021.

Manchester United has already completed some business this summer by signing Victor Lindelof from Benfica, while Chelsea is yet to make a signing.

Conte's team has been linked with moves for Monaco's Tiemoue Bakayoko and Everton striker Romelu Lukaku but the club has been unable to get any deals completed yet.

The transfer window is open until August 30.
