Saracens and England winger Chris Ashton has been banned for 13 weeks after being found guilty of biting an opponent.

The offense took place during Saracens' 27-12 Premiership win over Northampton on Saturday when the 29-year-old sank his teeth into Alex Waller's arm during a ruck.

A six-hour hearing by a disciplinary panel dismissed a second charge, handing Ashton a 13-week suspension that will see him out of action until December 19.

Ashton, who has 39 caps for England, was banned for 10 weeks last season for eye-gouging an opponent.

Chair of the panel Philip Evans QC said Ashton's offense had been "aggravated by his previous record."
