The Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics have been a major success, and the Games are set to conclude Sunday with a few more gold medal events, followed by the closing ceremonies.
For some athletes, this marks just the beginning of their Olympic journey, while for others, it could be the end of the road, as they’ll have to wait another four years for the Games to return.
One name frequently mentioned in discussions about the future is American figure skater Amber Glenn. At 26, she is a key member of the “Blade Angels,” alongside Alysa Liu and Isabeau Levito — a group of skaters who have become the face of U.S. women’s figure skating.

Glenn has been completely honest about the reality that she’ll be 30 by the next Winter Olympics. However, she’s not ready to call it a career just yet and is still weighing her options, which she discussed following her final skate at the Games this week.
“I’m going to stay in skating for as long as they’ll have me. I love this sport. I love being involved in it. I love the people. I want to continue to make it a better, safer place for young athletes,” Glenn said.
“I will reevaluate after the season’s over and see how I’m doing physically and mentally. I am not opposed to doing one last season hoorah, just for fun and seeing, ‘Hey, let’s see if I can do a quad.’”

Glenn has achieved some historic milestones on the ice, and she’s not leaving Milan empty-handed — she captured gold last week as part of Team USA in the team event.
While she didn’t medal in the free skate, her final performance was remarkable. She climbed from 13th entering the competition to finish fifth overall, overcoming the setback of a difficult short program earlier in the week that had put her in a challenging position.
Regardless, her resume in the sport is impressive from top to bottom. She has won three consecutive U.S. national championships and remains one of the few women to successfully land a triple axel in competition.
