There may not have been a more polarizing athlete at the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics than Chinese skier Eileen Gu.
The 22-year-old Olympian was seemingly in the headlines every day of the nearly three-week-long winter event, as she was a constant trending topic on social media because of her decision to represent China instead of the USA, despite living in the States and attending Stanford University.
Gu won gold in the halfpipe in Milan — the third gold medal of her Olympic career — and she took home silver in the big air and slopestyle events, running her Olympic medal count to six (three gold, three silver).

Despite Gu’s polarizing nature, few can argue she’s one of the most successful, popular, and high-profile athletes on the planet, which is why some were surprised when a user on X posted a photo of Gu’s alleged profile on dating app Raya along with the caption: “Eileen Gu is single and on Raya btw.”
Her bio read: “Pro skier and model, Stanford university. 2x Olympic gold medalist & model w IMG. i Like cats & philosophy & white truffle oil & running & physics.”
Raya is an exclusive dating and networking app that costs members $25 per month for the basic service and $50 per month for premium features. All members must apply and go through a rigorous screening process before being accepted.
The post has gone viral, garnering more than 5.4 million views, 6,400 likes, and 1,400 bookmarks on X — though Gu has yet to confirm or deny whether the profile is real.
Gu hasn’t publicly commented on her personal life, but fans quickly flooded the comment section with their personal reactions to seeing that the $23 million Olympian was reportedly single and looking.
“If she cannot find love organically the rest of us are doomed,” one fan quipped.
“I’m not sure there’s ever been a louder symbol of how difficult the current dating scene is,” another fan noted.
“Putting physics in a dating bio is the most [expletive] efficient way to weed out guys who can’t keep up with a conversation 😭,” a third fan stated.
“Literally zero people have a chance with her lol,” remarked one user.
“I think you read her bio and just a feeling of inferiority you swipe left. Nobody would think they can achieve it lol,” another user posted.
“Time to get back on raya 😮💨,” one fan joked.
