The Nashville Predators and Seattle Kraken have linked up to make a fascinating trade.

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Predators have acquired forward Shane Wright from the Seattle Kraken in exchange for forward Matthew Wood.

Wright being on the move is undoubtedly notable, as he was once considered one of the NHL's top prospects. However, he struggled to blossom into a star center with the Kraken and had been in the rumor mill for a long time. Now, he has finally found his new home with the Predators.

The Predators will now be hoping that Wright can tap into his potential and become the true first-line that he was expected to be when he was drafted fourth overall in 2022. In 14 games this season, he has posted three goals and one assist. This is after he had 27 points in 74 games last season and 44 points in 79 games during the 2024-25 season.

Wood is another former first-round pick on the move with this trade. The 21-year-old winger has shown promise at times early on in his career, but like Wright, has had a slow start to this season.

Wood has posted one goal and three points in 14 games this season. This is after he had 17 goals and 30 points in 71 games as a rookie. He should be given a top-nine role with the Kraken and will be looking to break out.

Overall, this is a very interesting trade between the Predators and the Kraken. It will be interesting to see how these players perform with their new teams from here.
