What the New York Giants decide to do with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft could send several war rooms into scramble mode.
The Giants have been linked to everyone from Heisman finalist running back Jeremiyah Love and former Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate to former Miami offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa and former Ohio State star safety Caleb Downs.
Longtime draft expert Daniel Jeremiah went yet another direction when running through a mock draft on "The Mina Kimes Show Featuring Lenny" on Monday.

Kimes asked Jeremiah to choose between Tate and former Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles for the Giants.

...
"I'm taking Styles," Jeremiah said. "I think that would just be so fun with some of their young pieces. I think Abdul Carter is gonna be a star, and I think you put [Styles], that is gonna be fun."
Jeremiah further explained his evaluation of Styles:
"I think that Sonny Styles, to me, if you look at Washington at No. 7 and the Giants at 5, look at the quarterbacks in that division. To me, he is the perfect chess piece. When you've got the athletes they have [in the NFC East] in Jayden Daniels, he's an eraser for that stuff. He just erases it.
And if you're in Washington, you've got to figure out a way to get [Giants quarterback Jaxson] Dart on the ground. If [the Philadelphia Eagles] wanna run Jalen Hurts, get him on the ground. Dak [Prescott] is sturdy and strong. He doesn't move around as much anymore, but I think a player like this is made for this division."
Styles was the darling of the 2026 NFL Combine in February. He posted a 43.5-inch vertical, the highest by anyone 6-foot-4 or taller and 240 pounds or heavier since 2003, per Warren Sharp.
As of April 1, Jeremiah ranks Styles as the third-best prospect in the entire 2026 draft class.
"Styles’ performance in the Big Ten title game against Indiana answered any questions about his game, as he was the best defender on the field in that matchup," Jeremiah wrote, in part. "He reminds me of Fred Warner as a player. It's hard to find prospects with Styles' combination of speed, athleticism, and instincts."
For reference, Warner is a four-time All-Pro linebacker for the San Francisco 49ers and presumptive future Hall of Famer.
The Giants finished 4-13 last season and will draft in the top six for the third straight year. New York selected edge rusher Abdul Carter at No. 3 overall last year and wide receiver Malik Nabers at No. 6 overall in 2024.
The 2026 NFL Draft will take place in Pittsburgh from April 23 to April 25.
