For the second consecutive year, Rory McIlroy delivered a stellar performance at The Masters, capturing another green jacket at Augusta National.
Last year, McIlroy entered the tournament with immense pressure, having already won every other major while chasing a Masters title for more than a decade. After finally breaking through, he made it a point to play more freely this time around — and it showed.
McIlroy held the lead at the end of each round and, despite a few brief setbacks, avoided letting mistakes snowball. He ultimately finished at 12-under par, while Scottie Scheffler surged into second at 11-under following a strong weekend push.

“It gave me tremendous joy watching Rory McIlroy compete at Augusta,” Player wrote on X. “What pleases me greatly, on a personal level, is the dedication he has shown to his fitness throughout his career.
“His power off the tee is a tremendous advantage, but make no mistake, he won this championship with his putting,” he added. “That is where tournaments are decided, and Rory rose to the occasion beautifully on the greens when it mattered most.
“The tournament itself was thrilling, but what touched me most was seeing Rory’s family there supporting him. Moments like that remind us what truly matters… Congratulations on back-to-back Masters victories, Rory. I wish you continued health, happiness and many more major championships to come. — GP.”
Player is a nine-time major champion and was the first player to complete the career Grand Slam, an achievement which McIlroy matched when he captured his first green jacket at The Masters last year, becoming just the sixth player to do so.
With his victory this past weekend, McIlroy is now a six-time major champion and continues to hold the No. 2 spot in the world rankings, trailing only Scheffler.
