Scottie Scheffler is having a rough go in his opening two rounds at the 2026 Memorial Tournament.
The World No. 1 golfer finished his opening round with a 1-over 73 at Muirfield Village Golf Club on Thursday. And now through 13 holes in his second round, he trails Ryan Gerard's lead by 11 strokes at 3-over.
Scheffler's struggles were perfectly illustrated by a rare blunder out of a green-side bunker on the par-5 fifth hole. The PGA Tour superstar completely shanked his shot out of the trap, missing the green and ending up in the thick right rough.

Scheffler was still able to get up-and-down to save his par.
"Shanks rarely end in a par. Scottie Scheffler knows the most important shot is the next one," the PGA Tour wrote on social media.

Scheffler's second round featured three consecutive bogeys at the turn, going 3-over through holes No. 8, 9 and 10. He birdied the par-4 13th to get his round somewhat back on track heading into the final stretch.
The projected cut line for the Memorial Tournament is 4-over, putting Scheffler right on the edge of missing the weekend. The last time Scheffler missed the cut at a PGA Tour event was at the FedEx St. Jude Championship in 2022.
