It’s Masters week at Augusta National Golf Club, and anticipation is high for Thursday’s opening round in Georgia.
One of the biggest names in the field is world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who is chasing his third green jacket — a feat only Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods accomplished before the age of 30 — and his second tournament victory of the 2026 season, following his win at The American Express in February.
Ahead of the opening round, The Masters announced historic news: Scheffler will enter the tournament as the world No. 1 for the fifth consecutive Masters, tying Tiger Woods’ record from 2000–2004, which he later matched again from 2006–2010.

Scheffler’s victories in 2022 and 2024 both came with clear dominance. His first Masters title was by three strokes, and two years later he won by four, leaving little doubt on the back nine each Sunday about who would walk away with the trophy.
Last year, a late surge to finish 8-under par gave Scheffler another strong showing, as he placed fourth behind Ludvig Aberg, Justin Rose, and first-time winner Rory McIlroy.

Scheffler entered nearly every tournament over the past two-plus years as the betting favorite, and that won’t change this week, according to DraftKings Sportsbook.
He is currently listed at +495 to win, with Jon Rahm second at +910. Trailing them are Bryson DeChambeau and Rory McIlroy, both just over +1000.
