How to Watch Barcelona vs Mallorca

Read More on Sports

Barcelona can stamp its authority at the top of La Liga on Saturday if it meets expectations and delivers a home win over Mallorca. The reward for doing so will be a four-point lead over Real Madrid, at least until Los Blancos make the trip to Valencia on Sunday.

The Blaugrana have won their last four games in all competitions since suffering an unexpected slip against Real Sociedad last month. However, Mallorca’s chances of staging a repeat of that upset at the Camp Nou appear slim after losing its last four matches against the reigning Spanish champion.

Barca is currently impressing in more than just La Liga and recently snagged a top-eight finish in the Champions League, sealing its spot with two conclusive victories over Copenhagen and Slavia Prague. Mallorca doesn’t have quite the same level of distraction on its plate, though that alone may not be enough to turn the dial in Catalonia.

However, Kosovar striker Vedat Muriqi is one miscreant on Mallorca’s books, and Barcelona would still be wise to keep tabs on him. The 31-year-old striker has blazed into form in recent weeks and was recently named La Liga Player of the Month after firing in six goals across his last five games, albeit still not managing to improve Mallorca’s distressing road record, which has seen them take just five points from a possible 33 so far this term.
