Stephen Curry scored seven of his 42 points in overtime on Thursday night as Golden State downed the visiting Denver Nuggets 137-131 for its second straight win. Jimmy Butler added 21 points in the victory, while Jonathan Kuminga scored 14 points. The Warriors are still thin in the backcourt heading into Friday’s game with De’Anthony Melton (knee) and Moses Moody (calf) still sidelined.

The Trail Blazers faded in the fourth quarter en route to a 118-114 loss to the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night. Jerami Grant came off the bench for 29 points, hitting 4-of-7 from deep, while Deni Avdija added 20 points and Shaedon Sharpe tossed in 15. Head coach Chauncey Billups wasn’t on the sideline for the opener and was placed on indefinite leave after his arrest Thursday on federal gambling charges. On the injury front, Scoot Henderson (hamstring) remains out while Robert Williams III (knee) won’t play on Friday.

The Warriors upset the No. 2 seed Houston Rockets in the first round of the playoffs after coming out of the play-in tournament, before the Timberwolves dispatched them in a five-game second-round series. Portland improved from 21 wins to 36 last season but hasn’t been to the postseason since 2021.
