Group B play in the UEFA Nations League concludes on Sunday with Italy and France facing off in a showdown between two global soccer giants. Combined, the two countries have won a total of six World Cups, two for France and four for Italy, though it's France that has been the strongest side in recent years, winning the 2018 World Cup and finishing in second place at the prestigious event in 2022.

For comparison's sake, Italy failed to even qualify for either of those tournaments, which is shocking to consider, as the Italians have such a proud history in the sport.

Regardless, it is Italy who has had the upper hand in the UEFA Nations League this time around, as the Italians lead Group B with 13 points. France, on the other hand, is second in the group with 10 points.
Most recently, Italy defeated Belgium 1-0 thanks to an 11th-minute goal by Newcastle United's Sandro Tonali, a hugely impressive result considering how talented the Belgian team is at the moment. France, meanwhile, is coming off a 0-0 draw against Israel, a disappointing finish for a French side with so many top-level players on it. It should be noted that star winger Kylian Mbappe is not with the team for this international break. Even so, the French have to feel let down by that result.
Italy and France have already faced off once in this tournament, a match that took place on Sept. 6 that saw Italy come out on top 3-1. Scoring in that match for Italy were Federico Dimarco, Davide Frattesi, and Giacomo Raspadori, while the lone tally for France came courtesy of Bradley Barcola, who scored in the first minute of the match.
