Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller recently put together a blockbuster trade deadline deal that would send Miami Marlins ace Sandy Alcántara to the New York Yankees in exchange for Carlos Lagrange and Rafael Flores.
"He went five scoreless innings against the Cardinals on Tuesday, hitting triple digits on the radar gun a few times," Miller wrote. "That came on the heels of a seven-inning start with no earned runs allowed against the Padres. And goodness knows that FIP, xFIP, and xERA have been saying for a while now that Alcantara is pitching better than his ERA would have you believe.
"Finally getting some progression to the mean should be of interest to the AL East's three contenders, who would love to benefit from that continued success. Both Boston and New York desperately need at least one starting pitcher and could be willing to give up quite a few prospects to get Alcantara."

For the Marlins, this might not be the level of package they once pictured, but it might be all they can get at the trade deadline. Lagrange is a top-100 prospect and packs a lot of talent. Flores is a very talented bat with the ability to play catcher down the road.
The Yankees are seemingly unlikely to part ways with Cam Schlitter or Will Warren in a deal to bring in an arm, but if they can pull something off without losing their coveted pitching prospects, it could make sense. This deal makes perfect sense.
If the Bronx Bombers can add Alcántara and help him return to his former self, there's a chance they have one of the best starting rotations in baseball for the next few years. With Luis Gil nearing a return, the Yankees' rotation is already going to receive one massive addition. Adding Alcántara would work wonders for their World Series hopes.
