The New York Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays have navigated this offseason in very different ways. The Blue Jays have been ultra-aggressive, while the Yankees haven't been as active.

The Yankees are reportedly still viewing Cody Bellinger as their top priority and have reportedly made a new offer to him, according to the New York Post's Joel Sherman on Sunday. However, he is not the only player the Yankees have checked in on.

According to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon on Monday, they have also checked in on Bo Bichette, but according to Yankees insider Chris Kirschner, their interest is not solidified.

"If Bellinger is their No. 1 priority, I do not think they would be getting both Bellinger and Bichette," Kirschner said on "Foul Territory" on Monday. "It would be likely that Bichette would be a backup option if Bellinger goes elsewhere, which I'm not expecting. I do think that eventually the Yankees and Bellinger will agree to a new deal. I've heard that the Yankees' interest in Bichette isn't really even that solidified.

"The one thing I'll say about checking in on free agents is that it's the job of the general manager to check in on everybody that's out there. It doesn't mean they're necissarily 100% interested in that player or are going to sign him. Brian Cashman is not doing his due diligence if he doesn't check in to see where Bichette's market is or which teams might be interested. As of today, I don't think the Yankees and Bichette is a realistic possibility."

The Blue Jays remain engaged in pursuit of Bichette, according to USA Today's Bob Nightengale. However, the addition of Kazuma Okamoto may decrease their need for him. Losing him would be a major blow, but losing him to a rival like the Yankees would be brutal for Blue Jays fans.

Bichette may not be sticking at shortstop much longer due to his defense. He could move over to second or third base. Even before signing Okamoto, the Blue Jays had internal options to replace him. However, now they have another bat who they can use in the infield. Additionally, the $60 million they committed to Okamoto decreases their spending power for Bichette.
