The Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees are tied in the win column with just three games left to play for both sides. The American League East Winner figures to have a first-round bye in the postseason.

A bye may benefit the Blue Jays more than the Yankees simply because the Blue Jays may need more time for Bo Bichette to be ready. Bichette had not begun running as of Tuesday, according to MLB.com's Keegan Matheson. There is still time for him to get ready, but time is running out, and the latest update suggests he is still not close.

"No real change, but some progress, which is good. Day-to-day with him," John Schneider told Matheson. "I'm hoping, sometime soon, that we have a significant update in the right direction, but still day-to-day."

Bo Bichette’s Recovery Stalls, Misses ALCS with Blue Jays

Bichette apparently is still not running, and with just three games left, the Blue Jays may not have the luxury of a bye. If the Blue Jays are forced to play in a best-of-three wild card series, they may have to do it without their star shortstop. At this point, the team is still "hoping" for good news, but hope is not a strategy.

The team could throw Bichette in the lineup as a designated hitter. However, he has not played in a game since Sept. 6, and it may force them to keep another valuable bat out of the lineup.

The Blue Jays finish the season off by playing the Tampa Bay Rays. They will need to match the Yankees' wins in the final three games as they hold the tiebreaker.
