The Toronto Blue Jays made the huge commitment to extend Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s contract this season. With that kind of financial commitment, the Blue Jays may have to cut some salary in other places. Unfortunately for some, that could mean being traded away this season.
ESPN's David Schoenfield recently predicted the Blue Jays would trade infielder Bo Bichette this year, and the idea makes quite a lot of sense.

"In the Blue Jays' case, things would really have to go sour for them to surrender at the trade deadline, but they do have two interesting would-be free agents in Bassitt (off to a tremendous start with a 0.77 ERA through four outings) and Bichette (hitting for average but not any power)," Schoenfield wrote. "Even if the Blue Jays are a few games back at the deadline, they'll probably look to make additions -- especially keeping in mind that the jobs of executives Mark Shapiro and Ross Atkins, let alone manager John Schneider, are possibly on the line."
Bichette's contract is up at the end of the season, and it seems like he's in line for a massive contract, albeit much smaller than Guerrero's.
It's unlikely the deal comes with the Blue Jays, who just committed $500 million to Guerrero.
Toronto could also fall out of postseason contention at some point this season, which would almost certainly cause it to trade Bichette.
The Blue Jays could likely land quite a haul in exchange for Bichette if they were to trade him to a team like the Atlanta Braves.
